“By Strengthening science Engagement we not Only Strengthen Science literacy, but also democracy”

The International Year of Science Engagement (IYSE) is excited to announce its partnership with Vetenskap & Allmänhet (VA Public & Science), already a long-standing collaborator of Falling Walls and host organisation of the Falling Walls Engage Hub Sweden.

Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Vetenskap & Allmänhet (VA) is a non-profit civil society association aimed at promoting dialogue and openness between the public and researchers. The organisation is the national node for science communication, citizen science and public engagement. VA also coordinates the Swedish events taking place during the annual European Researchers’ Night, a pan-European science extravaganza.

To be able to make informed choices in their daily lives, people need to have both access to knowledge and the ability to critically judge true information from false,” says Maria Hagardt, International Relations & Communications Manager at VA. “By strengthening science engagement across the world, through a dedicated Year of Science Engagement, we not only strengthen science literacy, but also democracy.”

Vetenskap & Allmänhet will support the IYSE with its extensive expertise and reach while working together to co-fertilise our respective programming.

We would like to thank the team at VA Public & Science who worked with us on this agreement. It is our pleasure to associate ourselves with VA and we look forward to working with our newest partner.
